authentic Thai food found in the very streets outside of your
accommodation in Bangkok, Thailand. It is simply incomparable. The
food is so good it is worth a trip on its own (which is rarely far).
Once you have sampled the real thing, the ones from your local
restaurant back home won't cut it.

Beautiful
curry and seafood at Pa Aew
No
doubt you have arrived in Bangkok the moment you find yourself
pulling a plastic stool and waiting for lunch to be served. For great
curry and some of the richest, seafood-heavy meals you will ever
have, head to Pa Aew along Th Maha Rat. The restaurant is located in
front of Krung Thai Bank near Soi Pratu Nokyung. It is hardly a
stunner at first glance, but do not let the bare-bones look fool you.
It serves a fantastic dried Muslim style curry and freshwater fish
dumplings, which are fried with fresh herbs. Prices of main dishes
are between THB 20 and THB 60 – great value for money.
Legendary
fried noodles from Thip Samai
If
you want to sample pat tai (spelled pad thai in English), there is
definitely a better version than that sold along the many carts in Th
Khao San. Treat yourself and hear your taste buds sing angelic hymns
by sampling the fried noodles from Thip Samai in 313 Th Mahachai,
only less than a five-minute tuk-tuk ride from Th Khao San. It opens
at 5:30 pm and but is closed on alternate Wednesdays. Prices of main
dishes start at THB 25 to THB 120.
Jek
Pui and mild Chinese-style curry
Take
the Tha Ratchawong ferry or exit the train to Hua Lamphong exit 1 and
behold Jek Pui along Th Mangkorn. It is a Chinese restaurant that
puts its own twist on Thai curries. Open on Tuesday to Sunday, from 4
pm to 8 pm, it is the perfect venue for your mouth to get introduced
to the best mild green curry with freshwater fish dumplings in the
city.
Sample
northeastern-style Thai food at Somtam Convent
Minced
meat salad, som dam, and Isan delights of various flavors charm
visitors time and again, with every visit to the Somtam Convent at
2/4-5 Th Convent Street. You can take the Sala Daeng exit 2 from the
subway or the Si Lom exit 2 from the train. No doubt, this is the
place where travelers fall deeply and madly in love wit
Northeastern-style Thai food, and which ultimately causes the breakup
with their local Thai restaurant back home.
