1. SIETE PECADOS

The name originated after seven sisters who disobeyed their mother to swim in the serene waters and drown, forming the seven islets we see today. The maximum depth is 20 meters, and sun rays can penetrate the underwater lighting the part below. A Weekend In The City: Manila, Philippines Edition

Manila, Philippines – Summer is just around the corner. Book a weekend stay at Century Park Hotel (or any hotel with swimming pool in Manila) to start a fun and frenzy adventure. Even with all the noise, pollution, and overpopulation, the historic City of Manila can still charm and endear its way into anyone’s heart. Valentine’s Day is over, but there still always time to plan a weekend in the Philippines’ capital. Here are some ideas how to spend your time during your visit:

Patio Pilar

You must be hungry. Check out this Castilian-inspired courtyard café that also doubles as an events venue. It features a pair of heritage structures with an appealing blend of the traditional and the trendy. It basically captures what is quintessentially Ermita—an area once graced by the mansions of elite Filipino families in the 1900’s and then later known for its artsy, bohemian flair.

Arroceros Forest Park

Also known as ‘Manila’s last lung,’ this urban park built along the Pasig River in 1993 now houses at least 60 indigenous tree varieties, 8,000 plants, and 10 bird species. Sadly, the previous admins have failed to maintain the area, but there are reports that the new admin will restore it to its former glory. Despite all that, Arroceros Forest Park still offers a serene setting for afternoon strolls and sunsets.

Cinematheque Centre Manila

‘Netflix and chill’ might be the popular thing to do, but you can never go wrong with tickets to a culturally relevant movie for two. Aside from film screenings, you can also learn about film history, production, and all things related to cinema and filmmaking. There’s also an in-house cafe inside where you can sit down and discuss films with like-minded fellows after.

National Museum of Fine Arts

Juan Luna’s Spoliarium. Nuff said.

National Library

The National Library of the Philippines is also known as “the repository of printed and recorded cultural heritage”.  All they require is a valid ID to get access to all the titles and references you need. Before your visit, you can also check their Online Public Access Catalog to see if they have what you need. The National Library also offers services for copyright registration.

Binondo

The World’s Oldest Chinatown is home to various spots offering cuisine heaven. The fried dumplings at Dong Bei, the xiao long bao at Cafe Mezzanine, and the fried chicken at Sincerity Cafe. You could also try the fresh lumpia at New Po Heng. Vegetarian delights at Quan Yin Chay, and the steaming, hot mami at Masuki.

Escolta

In the daytime, Escolta is a busy strip with interesting shops and old buildings. At night, it turns into a hip block party where you can buy stuff from local artisans, eat gourmet street food, and drink cheap booze while dancing in the street all night long.

4 Tips to Finally Have Your Dream Luxury Vacation

We all dreamed of having a world-class vacation, whether somewhere near like in a Nasugbu, Batangas beach resort or out of the country, like in Singapore. Sadly, it seems like we can’t just tick it off our bucket list because it’s crazy expensive.

Want to know a secret? Luxury doesn’t have to cost you an arm and leg. It’s all a matter of being prepared and resourceful. Here’s what you have to do to get that dream luxury vacation:

1. Do your destination research.
Smart travelers know that they make the most out of a trip by knowing their destinations first before going there. Research on the general cost of things in the area—food, transportation, accommodations, and nearby attractions. This way you can plan your trip and avoid unnecessary expenses. Look for a good destination, flight deals, and accommodation at least 6 months early.

2. Consider amenities and facilities of the accommodation.
Not all accommodations offer the same services. Before choosing where to stay, make a list of your needs and preferences. Compare the list to your prospective hotel or resort. Want to eat to your heart’s content? Check for buffet restaurants. Need something personalized such as room scents? Look for hotels that offer these. Listing your priorities will help you decide wisely.

3. Book directly on the website.
If you already have an accommodation in mind, the next step is to book. Book as early as you can. If you want to save more, book directly on the hotel or resort’s website. The best available rates and exclusive deals are usually on the websites so check them first before booking.

4. Go for your dream luxury accommodation.
Don’t think much about how expensive your trip will be. Don’t be guilty for splurging a bit for yourself. You deserve this vacation. So, go book in that dream hotel or resort! The Philippines offers a lot of luxury destinations. In Luzon alone, there are plenty of places to go to: splendid hotels in Tagaytay, beach resorts in Nasugbu, and breathtaking views in Batanes.

Just always keep an eye out for great deals and discounts on your desired accommodation. Luxury hotels and resorts are known for exciting promos every now and then.

So, that dream staycation to a five-star hotel in Metro Manila, a luxurious beach resort in Nasugbu, Batangas, or a remote island abroad? Whatever it is, know that it’s within your reach with these tips!

Want To Know If He or She’s The One? Take Them On A Weekend Date In Manila

Manila, Philippines – Did you know that aside from shopping and sightseeing, Manila is a great place to know if your current partner is for keeps? So you’ve been dating for quite some time and you’re thinking about kicking things up to the next level, but you really want to make sure. There’s a sure-fire way to know if they are worth it.

Bill Murray once famously said: “If you have someone who you think is The One, take that person and travel around the world. Go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And if when you come back to JFK, when you land in JFK, and you’re still in love with that person, get married at the airport.”

Manila, even with all its historical significance and undeniable charm, is not a walk in the park. Fortunately, with these tips on the things to do in Manila you can enjoy a weekend date with your partner while evaluating if he or she could be The One:

1.Food adventures in Binondo

You and your partner should enjoy the same things like eating together. Do they have allergies? Do they chew with their mouth open? Would they share their food? Would they yell at you when they are starving? You need to know these things. You’ll never run out of restaurants and holes-in-the wall to explore here in Binondo. All you need is time, patience, and a large appetite.

2. Art appreciation at National Museum

Aside from talking about how their day went and the latest on that TV show you both like, do they appreciate art and other fine things? Do they think its boring? Can they take cool photos for your IG? These are important things! Check out the National Museum’s social media pages for the latest exhibitions and gallery hours.

3. History lesson in Luneta, Intramuros

The climate in Manila could only be just two things: hot and sticky or dripping wet. Watch them react to the smoke and traffic while strolling along the city’s most famous and historical landmarks. Do they pay attention? Are they easily annoyed? Do they complain much? These are just some things to ponder.

4. Party along Escolta

In the daytime, Escolta is a busy strip with interesting shops and old buildings. At night, it turns into a hip block party where you can buy stuff from local artisans, eat gourmet street food, and drink cheap booze while dancing in the street. Will your partner enjoy the environment?  Or would they be a party pooper and ask to just go back to your hotel? Will they check out other people when they think you’re not looking? There’s only one way to find out and this is the right place to do it.

5. Let Manila Bay do its magic

If after all of the things you went through on this trip, you still like them and they still like you then lucky for you both. Sit in silence along Manila Bay and enjoy the sunset and the breeze with your partner-in-crime. Good luck!
